Hey,
Motivational Thursdays are here YAAAY BUT ON A MONDAY! I am sorry that this post is a few days late and I couldn't wait another week to post so I thought why not today, MONDAY ANOTHER MOTIVATIONAL DAY. TODAY IS THE DAY I BRING YOU SOME MOTIVATION AND INSPIRATION. I'm hoping you're having a good start to the week. I hope you've started this week feeling fresh and joyful. If not, don't think of it as a bad thing there's 6 other days to go and after every dark night there's a brighter day..your bright day is on it's way.
I think the hardest thing we face as humans in this modern day and age is retaliation.
Retaliation is when you counter attack because they attacked you first. You know when someone does something so spiteful to you and you're just like 'do I have mug written on my forehead? ' I am sure all of us have been through that situation and you just feel like retaliating to the situation with either spiteful words or actions.
I HAVE BEEN AN EXAMPLE OF THIS IN THE PAST.
However through the years I have learned that retaliation is in fact the most stupidest thing anyone can ever do simply because some of these actions are not even towards people we don't get on with but people we love - siblings, parents, friends, partners, pets even.
Retaliation does not how strong you are but how stupid you are. You've wasted your own time to gain pleasure from hurting someone else? I look over the years and I really feel dumb for stooping so low in some situations, it's just not worth it at the end of the day. There's the saying that when you put fire with fire, it causes a bigger fire.
FIRE WITH FIRE CAUSES DAMAGE AND NOTHING ELSE.
I know some of us have been in situations where we have retaliated and that has resulted to massive consequences. Retaliating to a situation does not take away your problems - it takes away YOUR PEACE.
You know them one's when you're in a situation and you PICTURE the scenario in your head what you're going to say and how you're going to address the situation when retaliating back to the person that's annoyed you or violated you .. but why? You've wasted time to make up a plan in your head over a situation that probably could've been avoided or even dealt with calmly.
I know sometimes there are situations where you HAVE to say something however you shouldn't let the actions of others alter your actions because your actions represent you, NOT THEM.
By retaliating to a situation you're the fool - why? because you made time to retaliate.
CASE STUDY -
Oprah Winfrey
Age
61
Profession :
One of the richest black women in the world, Rape Victim, American actress model, host activist, producer andphilanthropist,
Most known for
Oprah Winfrey Show
Oprah Winfrey is probably the most inspirational woman there is alive, not because she is rich or because she has gained fame to her name NO - if you know her life story and what she has over come, she is definetley someone to look up to. At age 9 Oprah Winfrey was molested by her uncle, family friend and cousin. At age 13 Oprah Winfrey ran away from home and she gave birth to her first son prematurely who later died a few months later - after EVERYTHING she went through, she has never publicly shamed who done these cruel things to her, I mean she had every right to nationally publicize who these people were and how they ruined her but no she forgave and moved on - THIS IS NOT EASY TO DO BUT IT'S POSSIBLE.
Another way retaliation helped Oprah Winfrey is racism. Oprah was one of the first black hosts in America and that wasn't easy at all especially because she was a women! she had constantly been called a monkey/dog/nigger and many other cruel things however she showed nothing but love, she never retaliated to people's ignorance instead of retaliating. she never lowered her actions to react to others because she knew her actions represented her. NOT THEIRS.

so tell me - Is retaliation worth it?
