You know when you're at a buffet and you eat with your eyes which leads to you to put too much on your plate, then when you're actually eating you think 'wow, this is actually too much food you know' then you end up overeating or feeling upset because you've wasted food... 

THIS IS EXACTLY HOW LIFE WORKS.
 Don't take on commitments you can't handle, many times we take on too much thinking that  it won't effect us.. 
FOR YOU TO EAT GOOD YOU NEED THE RIGHT AMOUNT ON YOUR PLATE. 
There's nothing wrong with eating big but you need to be prepared to what comes with eating big.
A lot of us shop with our eyes and when it comes to checking out at the till we realise it's all adding up to abit too much, I understand that sometimes in life we want to do so much but doing too much can lead to stress and wasting time
If you know you're in a position where you think you're taking on too much you need to sit back and prioritise
This can be applied to anything, even exams  a lot of people get stressed when it comes to exams because they're always trying to cram TOO MUCH information, understand balance you need to balance; youeat one meal at a time, so revise one subject at a time.

too little and too much food can put you off eating. 
Too much work and too little work can put you off the results so make sure you commit yourself to a grind that you can handle.
